Greetings,
On behalf of the Greater Wilmington King Mackerel Tournament Teach a Kid to Fish Foundation, I would like to welcome you to historic Wilmington. The Children's Fishing Foundation was created in an effort to teach disadvantaged children the joys of fishing. Proceeds from fish sales at the tournament, as well as corporate and personal donations, assist in funding the foundation.

Our goal is to introduce the experience and thrill of fishing to as many disadvantaged and underprivileged children in the Greater Wilmington area as our funding allows. This was the very first fishing trip for many of the children. Last year was the wonderful start to this Foundation. We took over 150 children fishing, in conjunction with the Carolina Ocean Studies program. The tournament committee followed up the trip with a cookout and special prizes. It was as rewarding to the adults as it was to the children. A large portion of the children had never been fishing, so we were able to witness many children catch their first fish.

The date is to be announced for the Sixth Annual Greater Wilmington Teach a Kid to Fish Day.

We are very excited about our program and the joy that it will bring the children. I would like to thank all of our volunteers as well as Skeet's Winner of Winner Boats in Carolina Beach and Richard Cecelski of Carolina Ocean Studies for their assistance and commitment to this wonderful event. Most importantly, we would also like to thank the participants of the Greater Wilmington King Mackerel Tournament for their support to us through their donation of fish weighed in during the tournament. Without their help, many of the goals and ideas would not come to fruition.

For more information on how you or your company can get involved, please feel free to contact me.
Best wishes for a wonderful educational day and tournament,

Tom Aberle
