Official Rules
THE GREATER WILMINGTON
KING MACKEREL TOURNAMENT

1.
Only one primary prize per boat.
2. In case of a tie in weight, prize money will be awarded to the first fish weighed in at that weight.
3. Entry fees will be $300.00 mailed and postmarked on or before July 15, 2008 . Entry fees received after July 15, 2008 will be $350.00.
4. Payment of the entry fee constitutes a representation by each entrant that he or she has read and fully understands the Tournament Rules, and that he or she will abide by such rules and the decisions of the tournaments committee and personnel.
5. Final registration will be on Friday, July 25th, 2008 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Dockside Restaurant & Marina , 1308 Airlie Road , Wilmington , NC . There will be one Captains meeting on July 25, 2008 at 6:30 pm . All participating Captains or their representative must be present for any rule changes or clarifications. Captains are responsible for being informed and understanding all rules.
6. Boundaries: Fishing will be contained in an area within a radius of 75 statute miles from Masonboro Inlet. A detailed Map will be available to all participants at the Captains Meeting and also on the web site. Reference point will be the Masonboro Sea Buoy 3410.35 7747.90.
7. Checkout: NO CHECKOUT
8. No fishing lines will be in the water before 6:00 am on the fishing day.
9. Each participating boat must meet all Federal, State and Local safety regulations for its size. All boats must be equipped with an operating Marine VHF-FM with channel 72 and 16. Tournament committee will monitor channel 72 or may be reached by cell phone (919) 522- 0367 Tom Aberle.
10. Only six (6) lines per boat. Fishing must be done by hook and line, and the competition is limited to boats only.
11. Congregating: Two or more boats seen congregating during competition will be disqualified from competition. No boats may pass anything between boats for any reason. However, in the interest of safety, one boat may give aid to another, but must notify the tournament committee and receive prior approval.
12. Eligible fish: King Mackerel (Scomberomorus Cavalla) only for Primary Prizes.
13. There will be only ONE (1) fish weigh-in per boat for Primary Prizes.
14. Weigh in location will be anounced at the captains meeting.
15. No fish will be weighed in before 2:00 pm Saturday. One half hour prior to final weigh in, all boats must pass check-in boat by 5:00. The location of the check-in boat will be announced at the Captains meeting.
16. All fish entered must be a minimum of 28 inches fork length. Please be conservation conscious and release any under size fish.
17. All weigh-in tickets must be signed by a crewmember.
18. All fish must be brought to the weigh-in station by the boat on which they were caught. The boat must be unassisted and operational on it’s own power. All boats must be in water in order to weigh in fish.
19. No fish can be transported over land.
20. Mutilation: No cut or mutilated fish will be accepted. The use of nets is not permitted, except for gathering bait. No fish may be roped. Gaff marks are excluded. No frozen fish allowed. All fish must be in fresh, edible condition and caught that tournament day during tournament fishing hours. All fish will be cut open, inspected and tested by a marine biologist. All decisions regarding mutilation and fish condition will be made by the weigh master and/or the tournament committee. Any boat not adhering to the above will be disqualified. All fish become property of THE GREATER WILMINGTON KING MACKEREL TOURNAMENTS, TEACH A KID TO FISH PROGRAM.
21. All entrants agree to submit to a polygraph at the request of the tournament. The results of the polygraph will be considered by the tournament committee, along with relevant information and at their sole discretion will determine whether the entrant will be disqualified from the tournament. The decision of the Tournament committee is final and binding regarding any protest.
22. Protest: All protest shall be accompanied by a $200 cash deposit, and shall be registered with the Tournament committee no later than one hour after the last fish of the day has been weighed. If the protest is upheld, the $200 deposit will be returned. If not upheld, the deposit will become property of the tournament.
23. A Sponsor, Tournament Official, or Committee Member is eligible to fish and win any prize.
24. The Captain and all fishing team members release THE GREATER WILMINGTON MACKEREL TOURNAMENT, its officers, directors, and members from any injury, loss, damage, or conflict, which may result as a participant in the tournament.
25. All decisions made by the Tournament Committee are final.

$300 on or before July 15, 2008
$350 after July 15, 2008

 

All prizes based on 250 entries.
